CrossFit, LLC, made a significant move by filing a trademark application for the use of CROSSFIT in computer software designed to track and utilize fitness workout data. This application, filed on June 12 with Joel R. Feldman as the attorney of record, aims to cover software for mobile phones that tracks and retrieves fitness workout data. The trademark, classified as a Word Mark, was filed without any claim to a specific font style, size, or color. This development hints at CrossFit's potential plans to launch a workout logging app, similar to existing third-party solutions like Beyond the Whiteboard, Fitr, Wodify, and SugarWOD.

Interestingly, this isn't CrossFit's first foray into trademark applications. On March 1, 2024, the company filed a similar application for CROSSFIT MEDICAL SOCIETY, which was followed by the official launch of the CrossFit Medical Society three months later. This pattern raises the question of whether CrossFit intends to develop this new software independently or partner with an external organization, as they did previously. Rumors of a direct-to-consumer product have been circulating, especially with the recent hiring of Chief Product Officer Ben McAllister last August, suggesting a strong internal push towards launching their own app.
